Attn: Anyone but the Mirror

I have been waiting; more eagerly than you'll ever know.

Come to me;
Lay down your heavy burdens;
Rest your head upon my lap:
I've warmed my hands for you.
I've drawn back the curtains
On many-a-face, too often.

There is nothing for you to fear;
No anticipation:
I'm closing your mind for you.
I know all too well now
How to ease your trepidation:
Close your mind off, allow mine to take over.

It's alright, you can trust me,
I am a perennial ally, a loyal friend:
I'd stand by your side through snowstorms and hellfire.
I can be your apricity,
So you can just pretend
That you're floating weightlessly across life's ocean.

I will be your crutch,
Lean back against my shoulders:
I know all too well the comfort
Of a steady shield.
Not my left, though - it's colder
Than you'd want, than you'd accept.

Not to worry, I can always compensate
With my eloquence and way with words.
I can paint a prettier picture
Than your eyes could ever fathom.
I could make it so that all the hurt
Is nothing more than an afterthought.

Have no fear,
Don't underestimate my charm.
I won't rest until your laughter
Pierces through the sunset clouds;
In its own way, a natural balm,
Somewhat temporary, but that's why I'm here.

I could never tire of this:
After all, is this not my purpose?
To soothe, to calm, to heal,
And simultaneously reverse the cycle?
I know, the mind is monstrous,
But I am your steadfast soldier.

Dry your eyes, it's all over now:
Hand your sorrows over to me.
Let me absorb all that ails you
And tend to your deepest wounds.
Your serenity brings me glee,
And fulfilment like none other.

See? Doesn't that feel better now?
Rest easy, and find eternal comfort.
As long as I am here,
You will never stand alone.
Take a step back, it'll take you no effort,
And leave the rest in my hands.
